As a Product Specialist, I led a comprehensive evaluation of Pastors.com to identify key opportunities for redesigning the site. Our goal was to enhance discoverability and community engagement by addressing the site’s content overload and platform limitations, ultimately positioning it for future growth.
The Pastors.com project centered on research and ideation, aiming to redesign a site with a vast array of resources and an engaged user base. The challenge was to better position its value propositions while making its extensive content more accessible.
One of the major hurdles was the overwhelming amount of content—audio, video, workbooks, and more—that lacked effective discoverability. Additionally, there was an untapped potential for community interaction that the existing site didn’t fully support.
As a Product Specialist, I quickly identified the need for an in-depth evaluation. We conducted a heuristic analysis, brand and competitor reviews, quantitative data analysis, and accessibility assessments. We also mapped user journeys and developed detailed personas to better understand the audience.
Our analysis revealed that the sheer volume of content was both a strength and a weakness. The existing Magento platform further compounded the issue by limiting the site’s usability, particularly in areas like search functionality and mobile optimization.
After thorough user testing and stakeholder collaboration, we compiled a clear and actionable redesign roadmap. One of my key challenges was distilling complex data into a concise report for non-technical executive stakeholders. By blending data with compelling storytelling, I guided the team in presenting a vision for the future of Pastors.com.
The client was highly impressed with our findings and chose us to lead the full site redesign in the following year when budget allowed. The project set the stage for significant improvements in content discoverability, community engagement, and overall user experience.
